I understand I own the worst 5700 XT available, I purchased it a while ago and haven’t used it until recently. I’m unable to upgrade it, so I’m left with it and trying to find a solution for the problems it’s causing. The main issues occur when playing games like Cyberpunk, Solasta, Avengers, etc.—the PC freezes with a black screen and then restarts immediately. I’m 100% certain the problem lies with the GPU, even though I just upgraded my PC but kept the same GPU. The issue persists across other titles such as Evil Within 2, Medium, Sekiro, and Desperados 3, but not in Forza 5 (where I played over 50 hours at high-ultra settings). Some users have reported memory temperature spikes with this card, and a Red Bios Editor fix helped others. Have you tried using the Red Bios Editor? I’ve also removed the Radeon software, cleaned it up, and installed a driver via Device Manager, changed the PCIe slot to Gen 3, overclocked and undervolted using the software with the fan at 100%. I logged GPU-Z sensor data before shutdowns, and one log showed no overheating while another indicated memory reaching 102%. I’ve gathered more logs but haven’t posted them yet. I’m considering installing thermal pads, though I’m unsure if 4mm pads will fit properly or if they could cause further problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My Asus Strix 5700xt also overheated, there are solutions available but they involve using a small screwdriver and plastic washers. Asus handled this card poorly, the VRM didn't make contact during installation, they replaced it and the same issue persisted. The screws used were too long; thinner screws or thicker washers could resolve the problem. There are many videos showing this fix, but it's generally recommended not to disassemble the card.

Thank you for your feedback, but my card is TUF and not Strix, so I doubt this will help. For my card, the solution to high memory temperature is adding thermal pads. I’m not sure if the high temperature is the problem, since only one out of five tests where the PC restarted showed a high memory temperature (102).

Would you really install MSI Afterburner and monitor temperatures through the OSD while gaming? Also, sometimes we forget that a poor air-flow case might be the issue. What case do you have? Have you experimented with playing games without the side panel? And what happens if you use a standard desktop fan to blow air from the side? (similar to this, but please don't use tape — just a desktop fan blowing air inside)

I performed a temporary check while gaming, using gpu-z in 5 tests where the computer restarted. Only one result indicated that the GPU memory temperature hit 102.

The temperature is quite high. Just a note, even though GPU-Z is a great tool, unless you have two monitors or play in windowed mode, Afterburner OS is more suitable for me. What about the rest of your post? Did you try any of that?

For checking temperatures with HWiNFO64 on a single display, it displays the maximum system temperatures you'd experience, making it easy to finish your game.

when addressing the fans in the opposite direction, the water cooled radiator may reach 20 degrees higher than usual inside the case.
