Hello, I have an old laptop nearing the end of its life running Windows 10 Home, upgraded from Windows. It's a VIAO model. I need to copy the key so I can use it later and save some money. Please help me before it stops working. Thank you in advance.

There's a sticker on the bottom, but yeah I think they bind to some serial number in your system (the motherboard I think?) so It probably wont do you much good.

This part isn't necessary unless you remove the motherboard.

I understand you can type commands in the command prompt to get a key, but I'm not certain if you'll actually be able to use that key later.

I’m not confident about this approach. Please verify with @JDE and ensure the key is linked to your MS account before signing in on the new PC.

Your Windows 10 license is tied to your motherboard. A non-OEM version allows reuse on up to five devices, while an OEM version cannot be reused.

Just a note. Cost is $35 and it's complete.
