I began this game roughly four days ago as a Marauder, though I wish I could have chosen Gladiator instead. I’m aware I need to visit the Gladiator guild in Ul'dah to switch classes, but I’m unsure how quickly that will be possible. At level 16, I just arrived in New Gridania from Limsa Lominsa, but the landing system shows I don’t have an airship pass—even though I used it to reach New Gridania. I’m also stuck in Limsa and can’t return. How can I get to Ul'dah as soon as possible?

Main story quest path should be present, allowing you to pass through the three starting cities one after another. Pay attention to the aetheryte in each location so you can move between them later. This is essentially before you reach the section where unrestricted travel begins early in the game.

Ahh. So I just have to wait a little longer. Impatience takes over. When I received the airship pass from the Admiral in Limsa, I thought I was all set lol. Thanks!

They're still showing you the world. It's been a while since I did that part.
A random idea, you talk about the Dark Knight, but it doesn't require other classes—just reaching a certain point in the story around level 50. Marauder turns into a warrior, and gladiator becomes a paladin. Right now, I'd recommend finding a job you enjoy to help you reach 50 and beyond. Plus, you can switch classes anytime (except in instances) so you can explore all the options if you wish.

This level 15 MSQ expands your perspective by inviting you to travel to other city states.

I'm on Aether I think. Jenova. And I know I could become a Dark Knight being a Marauder/Warrior, but I was doing some searching and came across a Reddit thread from a while back saying that a Gladiator/Paladin gets some good abilities or something at a certain level whereas acquiring those same abilities as a Marauder/Warrior is possible, but it's a little harder to acquire them. I'll post a couple screenshots of some comments I saw that made me think Gladiator/Paladin was better. Here's a link to the thread itself as well:

The threads are four years old. They have been updated several times since then. In general, it doesn't really matter which job you choose because they are all fairly similar. Perhaps once you reach level 80, you can focus more on other factors. For now, it doesn't matter as long as you enjoy your work. Feel free to experiment with different options, but don't choose just because others suggest it's better.

Remember that any class, job, or skill mentioned before last July is no longer applicable. The game has evolved significantly across the three expansions that followed.
