Hi everyone. I just installed an Asrock Z790 Pro RS motherboard and everything is functioning perfectly. Now it’s time to make some small adjustments. When I shut down my PC, the motherboard lights and connected USB devices remain active. My bedroom PC stays powered on even when I turn off the power supply unit. I’ve done some research, even reached out to Asrock via email, but haven’t gotten a response yet. It’s one of their latest models, so help on YouTube or search results is limited. I checked my BIOS and don’t have the Deep Sleep option or any settings related to ErP or USB power. However, I managed to disable the RGB lighting on the board—just turning it on or off works, but USB ports stay unaffected. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Often the issue lies in selecting the correct USB ports on your motherboard. Typically, most boards have a red USB port that indicates power will be supplied even when the system is off. Connecting your mouse and keyboard to a standard USB port should resolve the problem. Yet, some manufacturers label all USB connections black or blue, making it difficult to identify which ones provide power. There should also be a BIOS option to turn off USB power when the computer is powered down—though you mentioned checking for such settings, I’d confirm again just to rule out any hidden entries like accessories.

Check your BIOS for ACPI settings related to USB devices and remote power. Those are the two entries I saw in your guides that could help. Turn them off and you should keep your mouse and keyboard idle. If the motherboard lights remain on, Asrock’s control software likely has a shutdown feature—set it to Off so all internal LEDs turn off when powered down. You might also explore Deep Sleep under Chipset Configuration if those options don’t work; it will halt everything during power-off but may take a bit longer to boot.

All the USB ports remain active. I thoroughly verified the BIOS settings and didn’t find any way to turn them on or off. It seems the cheaper motherboard lacks those features, while the more expensive models likely include everything.

Asrock shared a link to update the BIOS. The DeepSleep feature was activated, causing all devices to power down. Great job everyone for your valuable feedback. For future use, refer to the provided download. https://download.asrock.com/BIOS/1700/Z790 Pro RS(4.14)ROM.zip
