There is finally a GTA mod that delivers a good experience without the screen distortion caused by vorpx. I also discovered a method to boost the resolution, although the tray tool isn't functioning properly.

EDIT: Many of the instructions in this guide are no longer applicable after the latest update to the mod. Please follow the steps provided by Luke Ross in the linked resource. I'll retain my notes on adjusting the settings file for reference. This could be helpful for others.

Mod download link:
https://github.com/LukeRoss00/gta5-real-mod

Here are the actions I took to ensure smooth operation and a slight resolution improvement:
- Step 1: Launch the game and navigate to settings.
- Step 2: In the gamepad section, switch Targeting Mode to free aim.
- Step 3: Under Camera, disable Independent Camera Mode.
- Step 4: Turn off First Person Vehicle Hood and First Person Third Person Cover.
- Step 5: Save the settings and exit the game.
- Step 6: Transfer the contents of the zip file to the GTA V Steam folder.
- Step 7: Navigate to Documents, Rockstar Games, GTA V, and create a backup of settings.xml.
- Step 8: Move the settings.xml file from D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\Settings\High to the GTA V folder in Documents, replacing it.
- Step 9: Open the settings file using Notepad, adjust the refresh rate to 90.
- Step 10: Save the changes and restart the game.
- Step 11: In the in-game settings, disable Vsync and save/close the game.
- Step 12: Access the Nvidia Control Panel, adjust Manage 3d Settings, select DSR, and ensure all boxes are checked. Set DSR smoothness to 33%.
- Step 13: In the settings file, input a resolution of 2560 x 1440.
- Step 14: Save the file and restart the game. Load the story mode and verify the frame rate is 90 fps using the Oculus Tray Tool.

If the game becomes unstable when opening your desktop:
- Go to Documents\rockstar games\gta v
- Right-click the settings file, uncheck "read only" if necessary, and click Apply.
- Open the file in Notepad, set the windowed value to 1.
- Modify PauseOnFocusLoss to 0.
- Save the file.
- Right-click again and change it back to read only.

(You may also need to ensure your Windows resolution is higher than the game's current setting.)

This update has been a worthwhile experience. I strongly recommend trying this version if you've experimented with previous mods.
