you have an Alienware R3 17 with a GTX 970M and 3 GB of memory. you're new to overclocking and need guidance on the software required, as well as recommended core, memory, and voltage settings. since you haven't overclocked before, it's important to proceed carefully. the process involves searching for tutorials and understanding how to adjust these parameters safely. many users mention that overclocking the GTX 970M can match the performance of a stock GTX 980M. would you like a step-by-step guide on finding the right tools and settings?

On the subject, Alienware are suppose to come Overclocked, and can't be changed by the user. Its all under lock down. Overclocking, just edits your settings to make your card run faster, and use all of its potential, however if it can cause issues if done incorrectly. If you contact Alienware/Dell they should be able to tell you if your system is overclocked or not. But if I remember correctly when I called them, all Alienware Laptops come overclocked to the maximum they can with it still being stable and not causing issues.
