Hi everyone. As mentioned in the title, I have a 12600k and I see two settings on my gigabyte MB BIOS. One option is to disable extra cores to reach up to 4900Mhz for gaming performance, while the other keeps all cores active but doesn’t boost speed. My question is: is there a way to use only the main cores for maximum power (up to 4900Mhz) without overclocking or using any special methods? I want the high-speed setting for normal operation but also keep the smaller cores for low-power idle use. I understand that 4900Mhz is the standard speed, but I’m seeing around 4600 and it fluctuates. Could it be possible to achieve the usual speed with just the main cores while still preserving the small ones for efficiency? Thanks for your time.

Have you experimented with the EasyTune app? I successfully got it functioning and can now overclock the CPU from the desktop. It offers three predefined settings—Eco, default, and OC. The OC mode boosts all cores to 5.0 GHz, which likely raised temperatures by around 10°C during gaming, probably due to higher voltage. I also tried turning on MCE (multi-core enhancement) in the BIOS, which brought all cores down to 4.9 GHz with increased temps. Beyond that, I haven’t explored much else. It seems overclocking the 12600K might not be necessary unless CPU speed is limiting your performance. For more details on disabling E and B cores, check this site: https://www.hwcooling.net/en/test-disabl...i9-12900k/

Avoid pushing beyond overclocking and try undervolting. Aim for around 1.25v with about 4.8ghz across all cores.

I discovered ways to optimize it for 4.9Ghz performance via BIOS with CPU enchant, but after testing on the mainboard, the CPU temperature rose to 86°C. I think lowering it further is possible by performing a standard overclock without using the enchant feature. Would you like recommendations for OC guides for the 12600K? Also, would you appreciate if LinusTech decided to release an official guide for this model?
