How to increase the speed of your DDR4 Corsair 2400MHz RAM.
My RAM base clock is 2400mhz 1x8 8gb Corsair Vengeance. I want to run it around 2666 because it's mentioned that it supports overclocking. My XMP settings are active and the RAM is at 2400mhz, but nothing has changed. Please help me.
Specs: Ryzen 1700, 1x8 8gb DDR4, Corsair 650w, Mobo Msi B350 Tomahawk, GPU 750ti, 1tb WD.
It won't harm anything. Attempting to overclock to 2600 MHz without stability may cause your PC to crash or display blue screens in Windows. If this happens, you might increase the voltage or reset the frequency to its original setting. Once stability is confirmed, consider using a utility like Memtest to verify performance.
When the spec is 2400 SPEC, it won't change to 2666. It could work. The previous two kits managed to operate with at least one strap above the rated frequency, without needing to tweak voltage or adjust primary timing.

the ram could handle overclocking, but you'll also need a chipset that does the same, meaning you'd require a z-series board. He's using an amd platform.
I believed the MSI B350 Tomahawk is suitable for overclocking. Isn't it? Or do I need to adjust something? It's stated on the motherboard that overclocking is supported, even after I pushed my Ryzen to 3400 GHz and it remained stable.
TJ Hooker explains that a 2400 SPEC won't overclock to 2666. It could possibly work, as his previous two builds managed to run above the rated frequency without changing voltage or primary timing.
This means I can increase its speed to the next available frequency of 2600 without any problems.
