How to identify the issue when your computer freezes during simple tasks?
I assembled my computer in early November 2023 using only new components except for a GT 1030 GPU I had before upgrading to the 2060. In December, minor freezes began, not severe but increasing in frequency. After installing the 2060, the issues intensified. I explored various solutions—adjusting power plans in Windows, enabling PCIE 3.0 instead of auto, using XMP profiles, running CPU-Z, Userbenchmark, and executing sfc /scannow via admin. Initially, I suspected a failing PSU, though it was an old demo unit and shouldn’t be unreliable. Later, I discovered that my CPU would shut down completely during power draw when freezing, as confirmed by MSI Afterburner. Additionally, I found out that the Kingston NV2 SSDs aren’t the most stable and can gradually fail or freeze. My SSD reaches full utilization, triggering freezes as well. PC specifications are listed below.
Could the CPU be shutting down due to a failing power supply unit?
Precisely what I was considering is the issue with the PSU. And sorry for not noting earlier that the SSD reaches full utilization and causes the computer to freeze as well; I believe this might be a different concern. I'll update this in the post now.
