How to handle an old Acer Aspire 4315 and upgrade its performance?
I have a used Acer Aspire 4315 that's sitting unused on my shelf, and I'm thinking about turning it into a Linux distribution or ChromeOS. This machine was purchased back in 2008. I'm not sure if it can be upgraded at all. I believe the CPU (Intel Celeron M Processor 560) won't work, but I'm considering adding 4 or 8GB of RAM and wondering if the chipset would support that. I also want to switch the storage to an SSD for better speed. How can I verify if it supports 4GB or 8GB of RAM?
The highest RAM size allowed for the Acer Aspire 4315 is 2GB:

Make a hole in one spot, secure a rope there, and employ it as a boat anchor. You won't be using any contemporary technology with that ancient creature.
You might be able to operate a very outdated version of Chrome OS or Linux, but what will you actually do with it? Probably not much more than that.
