Hey,
In recent weeks I've faced a recurring problem where my PC would fail to power on every 2 to 4 weeks without any signs—no lights, no fans. After waiting a few hours it would work again. But lately it kept refusing for days, then would briefly crash in Windows (often showing IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, though the pattern changed). I thought it might be a memory issue and ran MemTest86, which revealed numerous errors. Interestingly, after swapping out the RAM sticks and reinserting them, the results were inconsistent—either immediate failures or no issues at all. I still can't pinpoint which slot or stick might be faulty.

My concern is whether this points to a hardware fault, possibly in the RAM or motherboard. If you have any suggestions or tests you could run to help narrow it down, I'd really appreciate it.
(P.S. I don’t have access to another RAM configuration to test.)

It seems the memory might not be enough to hold back the fans—power could be the real issue.

The Memtest outcomes seem to suggest a memory issue, so here are the possible solutions:
1) Turn off any XMP memory overclocks.
2) Perform Memtest with just one DIMM installed, then repeat for the other in isolation. Remove any RAM that keeps failing.
3) Get new memory modules.

Good point. Could it be the cause even if the PC didn't stop or show errors during startup? (It never shut down or triggered a crash while running, not until recently.)

Unfortunately the outcomes seemed unpredictable; when I believed I had discovered a defective stick, it would suddenly work well in several later tests. That uncertainty made me question whether the problem was related to RAM or the motherboard (slot). A faulty motherboard could also account for occasional boot failures, since DaleH mentioned RAM wouldn't likely prevent fans from starting. Perhaps it is indeed the case, though I'm not certain. If anyone has insights, I'd appreciate hearing them.
