Mobo: Gigabyte b450m aorus elite (2 m. 2 slots)
Ryzen 5 2600
WD blue 500gb HDD
Teamgroup 512 m.2 nvme ssd.
Teamgroup m. 2 SATA 227GB ssd
GTX 1650s
Hello, I'm just starting with PCs. I recently made a clone of my SSD to a larger size. This is my first time opening my computer for upgrades and after cloning (I watched a tutorial longer than 30 minutes), I didn't realize that my original SSD was a M.2 SATA 237GB (with two gaps at the end according to Google) and my new drive was an M.2 NVMe 500GB, both from Teamgroup brands. After cloning, I reformatted my old drive and changed the slots. It worked initially but when I shut down the PC, it would restart and open again. I tried many YouTube tutorials, but I became doubtful because they all seemed similar. I checked the BIOS for issues and found the boot menu. I prioritized "Windows Boot: Teamgroup 500gb". Still, the system said "PC needs repair" after startup.
Later, I discovered on YouTube that converting my M.2 NVMe GPT to MBR might be necessary since my motherboard might not support GPT partitions. I plan to try this as a last option.
Also, I noticed my PC is prebuilt and my previous BIOS setup was only Legacy mode, not UEFI. I'm unsure if this will help.
I'm getting a bit anxious because finals are coming up and I can't go through my notes on the computer.
Thanks a lot, I still feel inexperienced with PCs.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Check if your original drive with the OS is still there. If yes, attempt to clone it once more. Which application did you use for the drive clone?
Rather than repeating these steps, consider reinstalling your OS after making a bootable USB installer for your system.
By the way, my computer is a prebuilt model and my previous BIOS setup was Legacy-only, not UEFI. I'm not sure if this will help.
Change the BIOS settings to UEFI and then reinstall the OS. It should take no more than 15 minutes.

I used Macrium Effect, the trial version one. I believe the original OS is still working with my m.2 NVMe drive. It's just that my BIOS doesn't recognize it as a boot drive. I'm planning to create a bootable USB installer. Thanks!

This part asks for clarification on several technical points. It explains the meaning behind the phrase "formatted my original drive," which likely refers to preparing a backup or clone of the drive. The question also seeks understanding about why slots were changed, noting that Macrium typically ensures the cloned drive boots from its original location during the cloning process. It asks what the system is currently doing, whether it keeps restarting repeatedly, and how far through the boot sequence it reaches before stopping. The request for a video or BIOS access aims to gather more details about the reboot behavior, including possible causes such as uploading a recording or adjusting settings like Fast Boot and full-screen logo to display more information.

My motherboard features two M.2 slots. Initially, slot 1 holds a 237GB M.2 SATA drive with my operating system installed, while slot 2 contains a new 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD. After performing a clone using Macrium Effect, the contents in slot 2 were transferred from slot 1, including everything from the original 237GB. Once the cloning was complete, I replaced the SSD on the motherboard: slot 1 now holds the 500GB NVMe SSD and slot 2 retains the 237GB SATA drive. Subsequently, I formatted the 237GB drive to use it as an additional storage device using CMD commands.

It might be due to the port change, as the issue involves the disk not being located.

Was es erstellt, dass Macrium Reflect Rescue USB ist? Es bietet eine Funktion, um Boot-Probleme zu beheben, wenn man von der Software startet.

I resolved the issue. I reinstalled the new OS but now only see 3 cores (originally 6 cores with 12 threads) on my Ryzen 5 2600. The Ryzen Master showed that 3 cores are disabled. How can I fix this? Thank you.

Open Msconfig.exe, go to Tab BOOT, then Advanced options, uncheck "Number of processors" if applicable, and restart.
