Hello everyone, I've been using an 8350 CPU for some time now. It was paired with a Gigabyte GeForce Gtx 770 Windforce 2Gb until it stopped working last month. Now I'm switching to a Gigabyte GeForce Gtx 1060 xtreme gaming with 6GB RAM. I feel the need to overclock this CPU soon. My gaming instincts say it's already time, because my CPU is old and almost outdated, and it needs to push harder with this GPU.

The reasons I haven't overclocked it are: first, I'm a bit nervous, second, I think it could reduce the gap in its lifespan, and third, I really don't know anything about it.

My questions are: What should I do since I mostly play games on it? Is overclocking worth it for my needs? If I skip it, what are the downsides? HOW? As I mentioned, I'm completely unfamiliar with this stuff.

Hardware details (Windows 10 64bit):
Motherboard: Gigabyte Am3+ 990fxa-ud7 rev. 3.0
CPU: AMD FX 8350 black edition
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Seido 120m
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce gtx 1060 xtreme gaming 6gb
RAM: Kingston HiperX Fury 12Gb (3x4gb) – one stick was defective when I bought it)
Power supply: EVGA Supernova G2 1000W

I would really appreciate your advice!
Also, just a reminder, I haven't updated my BIOS yet.

Disable turbo and set multiplier to 21.5
Activate hpc mode
This will provide an initial speed of 4.3ghz and likely won’t need further adjustments.
Other settings will need tweaking with voltage changes, though I’m not confident the Seidon 120 can handle higher speeds.

I've already seen it and spent several hours but he's motherboard features are very very different to mine.

It seems like you're asking about a question or topic related to overclocking, but the context is unclear. Could you clarify what you mean by "Guess no one has an answer" and "overclocking"? That way, I can provide a more accurate response.
