You're exploring a smooth transition between Windows and Linux. It sounds like you're aiming for a dual-boot setup where you can run both operating systems seamlessly. The steps you took—installing Ubuntu alongside Windows and adjusting the BIOS controller mode—are common approaches. However, changing the BIOS settings each time you switch OSes might be inconvenient. You might want to look into more permanent solutions like using a bootloader or configuring your system to automatically select the OS based on certain conditions. This way, you could avoid repeatedly adjusting BIOS settings.

Do you have any updates or files from your Windows setup that require maintenance? I’d suggest changing the drive mode to AHCI and reinstalling Windows, which would let you easily change operating systems later without additional actions.
