How to disable the audio from a secondary monitor that is connected?
Hello Friends
For laptop Dell, it has:
Windows 11 Home
A secondary monitor connected via HDMI
Until now everything works fine
When the Windows + P keyboard shortcut is pressed, all options for the secondary monitor become available.
Now, the reason behind this post is that the secondary monitor isn’t needed when there are two possibilities:
1. Turn Off the monitor itself (it’s not used because the button has weak resistance and could break)
2. Use “PC screen only”
When the second option is applied, it functions but emits a “beep” every 4 seconds. This sound also occurs when inserting or removing a USB flash drive.
To prevent this noise, you can try:
1. Turn on the secondary monitor
2. Reuse it (as a duplicate or extension)
Question
How to silence the notification sound from a connected secondary monitor?
A similar attempt was made: Settings -> System -> Notifications -> Notifications (Off), but the sound persists.
The second option is used when it functions but each 4 seconds produces a "beep". The same sound occurs when inserting and removing a USB flash drive. For your laptop, consider checking its make, model, and SKU. Verify if there are any pending BIOS updates and try reinstalling chipset drivers in an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator, to see if it helps. Can you share a clip of the problem you mentioned?
