How to connect a KVM between a work laptop and a desktop PC
I bought a CKL KVM 2x2 USB 3.0 KVM Switch Dual Monitor DisplayPort 1.4 4K 144Hz 8K 30Hz CKL-622DP-4. I have two monitors and was trying to connect them between my work laptop and desktop PC. The displays function properly on the laptop side. I have two displayport cables from a docking station to the monitors. On the PC side, only one monitor is connected. I used a displayport-to-HDMI cable for the second monitor, but it doesn’t work. I’ve tried connecting via DisplayPort from the motherboard to KVM, USB 3 from motherboard to KVM. I thought the KVM might not accept a cable with mismatched ends, but it still doesn’t connect. I also noticed the Windows connection sound when plugging in USB 3, but not with other connections. The USB link appears in Device Manager, yet only one monitor remains active. Any advice on how to resolve this would be appreciated. I’m open to other solutions, but ideally I’d like a button switch between the two devices.
Check the provided link for the sections labeled "Reminder before Installation:". Be mindful of the warning stating "Reliable Adapters Are Required in Most Cases." Also note that KVM devices typically do not function well with wireless equipment.
