I have a standard DELL USB keyboard and am trying to upgrade it to a USB-C model for my Mac. I’ve used an old USB 3.0 - USB-C 3.0 cable, cutting it in half, and connected the red to red, green to green, white to white, and black to black. However, the connection doesn’t work properly on my PC. When I connect just those four colors normally, with the other cables still disconnected, and use the USB A side for my computer and the USB-C side for my Kindle, it functions correctly and I can access files. This suggests there might be a data transfer issue depending on the cable type. Anyone have any suggestions?

Attempting to solve it without additional purchases. Anyone have suggestions about the real issue?

You could find additional assistance on a site focused on the Mac model you're attempting to link to.
