How to change a file's "Sort Title" property?
You're looking for a way to organize your Blu-ray rips in a more logical order. The built-in Windows Explorer sorting doesn't quite meet your needs—it struggles with proper alphabetization, ignores certain articles, and sorts spaces incorrectly. You mentioned using MetaX to manage metadata and tagging, which is helpful. The issue with the "Sort Title" property likely stems from MetaX not updating it correctly after editing. Since MetaX handles tags differently than Explorer, you may need to manually adjust the tag in MetaX or use a different method to ensure Explorer recognizes it as the desired title. If you need further guidance, let me know!
You want to modify how files are sorted, specifically the Sort Title property, rather than just understanding the sorting mechanism.
Yeah, my memory says right click gives a list of options. I can’t verify them because my Win 8.1 is missing. Probably I can check in Win 10. Do you need to change the options? If it’s something you have to do, it’s likely someone else needed an app. Windows isn’t the only platform that supports NTFS now. Someone mentioned an app called “power toys” recently. I haven’t tried it, but based on what they said it might work. Edited June 4, 2021 by Bombastinator
I'm focusing on modifying a particular file attribute instead of adjusting the sorting settings.
