CPU-Z will indicate whether auto is active through frequent frequency adjustments. As mentioned, this is the secure method for overclocking your PC.

You have the option to boost everything and potentially achieve higher clock speeds. The point is, I’m not recommending any specific approach. I’m just an internet user who has had some hardware tested.
Currently, I rely on basic components; it might just be a temporary effect.
AMD processors don’t waste much headspace unless you opt for advanced cooling solutions.
You’re unlikely to notice any performance change when playing your preferred games. You might see a slight improvement in frame rates, but it’s probably negligible.
AMD doesn’t overclock as frequently as Intel, but with the 9800x3d, it’s not necessary. It remains one of the fastest x86 gaming processors available. Don’t be misled by the 5.4GHz speed on your previous Intel chip—the 9800x3d performs significantly better. It doesn’t require that speed to function.
If you aim for higher clock rates, focus on improving your cooling setup, activate PBO, and adjust settings. Better cooling can unlock more flexible boost frequencies for PBO, allowing you to see real differences in benchmarks. This was the method I used with my PC after building it, achieving 500 to 1000 points on CB R23.
Now the system runs quietly, I kept PBO enabled after tweaking it, just because it was available. That’s probably a placebo—I’m sure it’s not significantly worse.

My cooling system operates with a 360mm deepcool le720. When gaming, if the default clock is 5250 MHz and temperatures remain stable, it works fine. However, when the temperature exceeds 5300 MHz, it becomes hotter. During the last crash, my OC was set to +200 GHz override, but now I’m using the default and play around 6 games each session, about 10 minutes long in deathmatch mode with no crashes.
