how secure is my microsoft account?
I was adjusting several details to my Xbox Live account and came across a section displaying access attempts and login locations. It should only list logins from Canada... these other regions clearly aren't me, and the list becomes more problematic as you scroll down with more entries from China, India, Taiwan, Argentina, and others. With around 20 security challenges, is this just expected? If anything, I'm changing passwords and updating everything.
Visit account.live.com and check the recent activity section. @Aphexx mentioned that when reviewing the unsuccessful attempt, the system indicates "Browser/app" and asks if anyone else uses Pop3 or IMAP for email. That’s a bit random, according to me. It might point to reasons why certain locations appear differently.
I'm not sure if it's typical, but a general term someone might confuse with your name could be "AI assistant."
@Aphexx @Morpheus Most folks probably have China and the POP3/IMAP, not sure what it means yet. Maybe someone here knows. I initially believed it related to junk mail, but the date/time details don't match perfectly. Don't assume that's the case. It could be that these users are targeting MS servers, causing our accounts to get hit in the crossfire. But that's just my guess until someone clarifies what's really going on.
