Hey guys, I'm trying to boost my FX-8320E from 3.2 ghz to 4.0 ghz. I'm curious about the frame rate improvement when using a GTX 950 with 2GB VRAM and 8GB RAM in games like The Division.

I wouldn't purchase a new motherboard solely for overclocking the same CPU. If you're upgrading your motherboard, consider saving until you can obtain a faster processor to pair with it. You might see slight improvements in performance, but it won't justify the cost.

Yes, you're aiming for an increase in performance within a game, correct?

The FX CPU has an 800 MHz overclock, which results in about 8 to 10%.
An additional 4 to 5 frames per second is possible.
However, this also heavily depends on whether the game in question uses the Ati GPU or the Nvidia GPU, especially for certain Astro titles.

Yes, you're aiming for an improvement in the game, correct?
😉 That would correspond to about 25%.

Without understanding your real-time CPU consumption, providing an accurate response isn't possible.
If your usage is near 100%, a 10-15% boost might be achievable.
If it's around 50%, there will be no noticeable gain.

3.2 FPS under those conditions. Got a quick realization—this isn’t about psychic powers. Want to test it and share your results?

3.2 FPS under those conditions—full moon and Jupiter in Libra... Well, I should admit I'm not a psychic. Try it yourself and let us know what you found.
Right now, I'm stuck with an ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 board that lacks heatsinks on the VRMs. I'm weighing whether upgrading to something like the MSI 970 Gaming would be worthwhile for overclocking, which is the main reason for this discussion.
