I haven't had a Haswell i3 ready, but it's about 20-25% quicker in IPC thanks to the die shrink and new architecture, plus a 500MHz boost which adds another 16% speed. The main issue was that framerate dropped to half when I tried to play a demanding game while streaming on Twitch.
I achieved over 60 FPS in a multiplayer BF1 match using my faux 4160. Disabling 2 cores and turbo boost, while setting speed to 3.6Ghz, helped a lot. It had more cache, but that shouldn't have been a big issue. I didn’t notice the big jump in IPC from Sandy to Haswell, nor did I consider how IPC and clock speed improvements work together. You can’t simply add a 25% IPC and 16% clock speed boost to get a 41% increase—it’s closer to around 50%.
It's not great, but the GTX 570 still works for some games. I’d opt for an I7 3770K and an RX 580 instead, it won’t break the bank and lets you enjoy 1080p at more than 60fps.
