I messed up my mom's old Pentium 4 laptop with that mess... I had to test it out and ended up wiping out a 200 GB hard drive just to get it running.

Attempted to set it up on a virtual machine but encountered issues. Vista might be an option.

Yes, "longhorn" was actually launched, but it was later combined with another initiative, resulting in its inclusion in the Windows 7 release.

The goal was to rebuild Windows from the ground up, which led to a six-year development period and numerous bugs that hadn't existed before. It's estimated that around 80% of the work was rewritten, and there are still many differing opinions on how to proceed.
