I manage FTB modpacks containing more than 200 items. Performance varies based on CPU and RAM usage. My brother's system features 16GB RAM, a stock 6300 processor paired with a 760, and it handles these loads smoothly.

Sure, just set the value to something under 60 and confirm what "fine" equals.

I know a friend who used an FX 6XXX with a dual Radeon 7990. We played Infinity and he struggled with around 60 FPS, while I managed a stable frame rate with my i5 3570K and R9 280.

Shows a range from 45 to 100, with an average of 55. The low value seems affected by many tile entities and particle effects, but performance remains acceptable. Using an 8320 or I5 would improve things significantly (I5 is best), though it's not required. No mods were mentioned.

Didn't note that FastCraft was added—it boosts speed a lot

These models struggle to play the game smoothly with OptiFine... (around 30fps minimum, 45 average).

The i5 would force the 8320 out of the room... Because I already have the 8320.

I switched from an 8320 to my 4690k, the I5 was definitely a boost, though the 8320 managed fine. Without more details, it’s possible he already has an AM3+ board.
