I might be shocked if it happens in under six to seven years...
I recall how DX10 was quite restricted at first, while DX9 remained dominant. DX11 gained traction mainly due to significant enhancements in graphics aspects like geometry and processing power, and it also improved performance for GPUs that could handle it.
It might be Vulkan or something different—who knows? For me, DX12 is just another convenient option, though not essential. Like having 144Hz monitors—they’re better than 120Hz, but most people can’t tell the difference between 120 and 144Hz...
