I was feeling a bit bored and thought about assembling a gaming and video production PC. It has its perks, but there are some areas that could be improved.
Here’s what stood out to me:
- The CPU selection is solid with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, but consider checking for newer models if performance is a priority.
- The cooling solution looks decent, though the fan setup might need tweaking for better airflow.
- The motherboard and RAM are well-chosen, but ensure compatibility with future upgrades.
- Storage options are good, but you could explore more budget-friendly alternatives.
- The video card is a strong pick, but verify compatibility with your monitor specs.
- Power supply and case choices seem solid; just confirm they meet your needs.
- Operating system and peripherals are in place, though you might want to test different mouse and keyboard setups.
Overall, it’s a decent build, but some adjustments could boost efficiency and comfort.
Ditch the 300 dollar cooler. The 7800X3D doesn't get especially hot, and there are coolers for 10 - 20% of that price that will be more than adequate. You could look at a thermalright phantom spirit 120se, it's an excellent cooler. But if you're stuck on an all in one liquid cooler, thermalright also have their frozen line of coolers. They top out around 80 bucks and have excellent performance. You could look at a B650E or X670E motherboard for the extra pcie lanes. You could also wait for the x800 series of motherboards, they should be out in a month or two.
You should get a 2 x 32GB ram kit instead of two 2 x 16GB ram kits. Do you need both a 2tb and 4tb SSD, or is either enough on their own? Did you mean to select both a 4k and 1080p monitor? What are you primarily going to use your system for? An RX 7900 XTX is around 100 - 200 cheaper than the RTX 4080 super while offering more VRAM and very similar gaming performance without ray tracing. With some tweaks you could probably save 500 dollars or so.

Thank you for your response and advice! My SSD setup will have one for the operating system and video storage, with another dedicated to games, programs, and additional files. I'll use the 4K monitor as my primary display and the 1080p monitor as a compact vertical screen. I selected the 4080 Super instead of AMD options because of its ray tracing features. The system's main purpose will be for high-quality gaming and video production.
When considering how to maintain video editing and gaming performance, the 7950X3D could be a more suitable option.
Affordable yet stylish coolers and SSDs are also accessible.
The dimensions of 27 and 24 w will not align. The 34 ultrawide and 27 ultrawide will share the same height, offering a sleek appearance and ample space for content creation.
