FSX on Steam is affordable this weekend. For a newcomer to flight sims, start flying and explore cities. You can reach destinations and fly over them.

There are many missions available that begin as guides helping you learn the basics, then move into challenges to refine your abilities. I enjoy practicing landings across different planes and environments, choosing new spots for scenery and good weather until I feel comfortable. When you need something random, just message me and I’ll suggest some options.

I'll proceed with the purchase today. Mouse and keyboard controls seem fine for now, as long as I can secure a joystick later.

You should definitely have enough space for your mouse to glide around, that's the only thing I can say.

It's essentially a refined update of the initial release. The game runs more smoothly compared to the boxed edition, and I purchased the Steam version for $5. I still keep the original boxed copy on my computer. The Steam install included all the service packs and the acceleration pack.
