How effective is the T480 really?
Hello everyone, I recently searched for a ThinkPad and came across the T480. I'm curious if this laptop is actually solid, since I've heard it's powerful and suitable for different tasks. I plan to use it mostly for studying and programming. The aspects that stood out to me about this model are its performance, durability, and ability to be upgraded.
I'm currently using an X1 Carbon 6th generation.
Features of T480:
The device offers 2 storage options and includes 2 batteries.
Thickness
Supports Windows 11 on Intel Core i7 or i5 8th generation processors.
Fingerprint
Display resolution is 1080p, with a 14-inch screen.
Long battery life
Reliable build quality
The Intel 8th gen CPU was launched in 2017 and is now approaching its end of life, with the release date set for June 30th, 2025.
What programming will you be working on? Do you have a preferred screen size and budget in mind?
I got this one back in February; if you keep an eye on it, its price may change.
MSI Prestige 14H
I acquired it for $519
I'm checking eBay for a T480 16GB core i7 without an OS, planning to install Ubuntu, aiming for a seller under $200. Need programming skills in Django, Java, Python, and C. Avoiding MSI electronics. Looking for a budget-friendly ThinkPad Business laptop suitable for 2025-2027.
To be honest, the laptops I've tried on ThinkPads have been the poorest value for their cost, ranging from around £700 to £5000.
