How durable is ethernet port?
How simple is it to damage an Ethernet port? Recently three people tried setting up my home network and faced trouble connecting the Ethernet cable to my PC. It seems the challenge lies in accessing the PC’s internal panel. After several failed tries, one of them became very frustrated because this task is part of their job and even joked about his mistake later. I’m concerned that his actions might have harmed the Ethernet port on my motherboard. Is there a way to check if any damage occurred?
I've never seen an ethernet port fail from physical abuse personally, so I'd assume it's pretty resilient. You could always just look at the port yourself and make sure it isn't damage, or the port itself isn't bent backwards or lifting from the motherboard at all.
Only method to confirm functionality is testing with a cable and checking the Ethernet port.
It appears functional. If issues arise, Ethernet connectivity may be lost and data transfer rates could drop marginally, with a slight reduction in ping time.
It should either function or not. The system adapts to poor conditions, allowing slower performance if needed, like with a degraded cable. It shouldn't affect the plug or socket.
