Your CPU is being cooled by an NH-D15 with the offset bracket. During gaming it stays around 85°C, climbing into the 90s when underclocked. I checked various options and found that AIO or custom loop solutions didn’t help much. It still spikes into the high 80s, especially with higher clock speeds. Any suggestions to bring temperatures down to the low 70s without sacrificing too much performance? Your build is a LianLi O11d mini with all fan slots filled. Bottom and side intakes (5 fans), top and rear exhaust (4 fans).

Any reason you wanna drop temps? Cause honestly they are fine. Modern Ryzen CPUs are more than fine with temps under 95-96 C

Welcome to AM5 life. No matter the cooler it will most likely always reach 85c during heavy gaming and into the low 90's under full load. The CPU doesn't actually care if its at 57c or 92c. AM5 have designed this CPU to be able to sit at 95c 24/7 without worrying. Its very different compared to other CPU's on the market and you can't compare AM5 to anything else. I can give you some videos that will explain this further if you want. TLDR: Nothing to worry about, completely normal. You can throw a -20 to -30 Curve Optimizer to lower temperatures a little if you want, I dropped about 6c on my 7700x doing this.

It doesn't seem secure, and my audience is reacting strongly when performance demands increase. Lowering the fan speed would keep temperatures at a fixed 95°C limit

Well it is. There aint much you can do about it and since it is safe I wouldn't sweat it too much

Keep it fixed at 95C. You can define a thermal cap in Ryzen Master, but that will hurt performance. I’d lower the fan curve so it’s comfortable to hear.

I saw some users experimenting with ppt/edc/tdc, have you tried it too? Or decided not to.

I just turned on PBO and ran a -25 Curve Optimizer on my 7700x. My 9800X3D was boosted from 5.2Ghz to 5.6Ghz using PBO and -20 Curve Optimizer. I’m not worried about high temps since AM5 handles that well, and I prefer maximum performance over extra cooling. This is my fan setting for the overclocked 9800X3D. I don’t need heavy cooling or loud noise at 50-94°C, but I want strong cooling at 95°C... It usually doesn’t reach that unless the CPU is heavily loaded, like when Windows Defender or shaders are running.

Zen 4 and 5 aim to maximize performance under stress, pushing limits until temperatures near 95°C. Once that point is reached, they slightly reduce clock speeds to keep the target temperature stable. Using a 360MM radiator with an AIO liquid cooler can help lower noise and improve efficiency. For those prioritizing cooler temps, enabling Eco Mode in UEFI will cap power usage, though this may slightly reduce speed.

I previously created a video comparing boost clock, temperature, and cooling performance on my 9800X3D. You can share the link via DM if you'd like to check it out. It's a simple overview, not a detailed analysis.
