I’m thinking about purchasing Red Dead Redemption 2 through Humble Bundle. Will I receive a product key that permits downloading it from Rockstar? Or does it function similarly to Steam’s platform, utilizing its own dedicated application?

You can often determine this by looking at the cost when buying from Humble Bundle. They specify which platform a key is intended for; in this instance, it will be the Epic Game Store, not Steam. Red Dead Redemption 2’s release on Steam has been postponed, and any keys purchased currently will not function on that platform.

Rockstar will provide you with a game code for the dL game.

If I purchased Red Dead Redemption 2 through Steam, would I be compelled to use the Rockstar platform? I recall acquiring Assassin’s Creed and Watchdogs on Steam, yet the Ubisoft launcher is still automatically installed. Consequently, Steam merely initiates the Ubisoft launcher. I’m seeking to prevent installing another game launcher application. I was wondering if there would be a benefit to obtaining Red Dead Redemption 2 via Steam compared to purchasing it at a discounted price on Humble Bundle.

It appears to be a code for a game, and I’m unsure why you couldn't use it on Steam if they sell RD2. I lack knowledge regarding launchers and the game’s internal mechanics.

Purchasing Red Dead Redemption on Steam necessitates installing the Rockstar Game Launcher; therefore, you can utilize a code within that launcher to avoid managing two separate programs for the same game.

Doesn't it seem like every gaming company is obsessed with creating their own platform for distributing games?

You can often determine where a key is intended to function by examining its cost on Humble Bundle. For instance, Red Dead Redemption 2’s availability through this platform is exclusively via the Epic Game Store—not Steam. Currently, because Red Dead Redemption 2 has been postponed on Steam, any keys acquired at this moment will not activate on the Steam platform.

I’ve already acquired the Epic Games Store thanks to Borderlands 3. It seems like that's no longer relevant. Also, does the Epic Games Store require you to launch Rockstar’s launcher as well?
