How do you install Windows 7 Ultimate onto brand new PC? (Desktop)
Hey! Your new gaming PC is running smoothly with the GPU, CPU, and motherboard all working. Now you just need to install Windows. You bought a Windows 7 Ultimate OEM key from Kinguin—can you use that as a genuine key? Also, I’m looking for a clear guide on how to locate and install the Windows 7 Ultimate OEM ISO onto a USB drive. I’ve tried various methods but keep getting stuck.
That mistake happened a while back on the retired 2500k rig. The issue was I was attempting to use a USB 3.0 device to install Windows, but Windows 7 didn’t include USB3 support by default. When I switched to an older USB 2.0 drive, it functioned properly. Could this be your situation?
As Mooshi noted, the warning shows up when attempting to install Windows 7 using USB 3.0 without first installing the necessary drivers on the Windows 7 installer. Windows 7 doesn’t come with built-in USB 3.0 support, but you can add drivers to the installation media.
