I purchased a laptop and installed Windows using my key. Now I discovered a problem with the keyboard, so I’m attempting to remove it. Before that, I need to uninstall Windows since it contains my key and all my files.

The main concern is figuring out the steps involved.

Boot from the Windows setup disk/USB and install normally. When prompted for partition selection during installation, choose your current drive and click 'Format.' After formatting completes, exit the setup. You may simply power off the system. Keep in mind that this format process is brief; sensitive data remains at risk. The recommended method involves removing the drive from the system, connecting it to another machine, and using specialized tools for secure or full formatting based on your security needs.

It's preferable to remove every partition.

I mean details that are important and need protection because they could be private, confidential, or sensitive in nature.

In reality, data can be fully recovered once the drive is properly formatted. Not every file will be accessible or functional, though the majority should still be recoverable.

I gave away my old laptop without wiping it, but now it's all set. It only has photos and a Windows key—unless they can't recover those, I'm fine with that.
