Ryzen 5 1600af running at 3.2 gigahertz (it's stock, not overclocked). memory: MB B450 MSI Tomahawk Max with Crucial 8g ddr4 2666 sticks. the motherboard shows no XMP in the BIOS, so it uses cheap green RAM with no fancy features. graphics card: RX 570 with 4 gigabytes of video memory I bought this whole gaming bundle recently, but i know it can be tweaked to go faster even though i am worried about burning things out. i do not use any special coolers because my tower only has two big fans and one small fan to keep them safe. the motherboard does have a "Try it" button to help me overclock it, but i don't know how to press the right buttons yet. I just want to get it running at maybe 3000 megahertz, would that be okay? The parts are too pricey for my area so there is no big danger involved. thanks a lot in advance
It lasts longer if you fix it in the BIOS, and then you can run a memory test using Windows Med along with this link: https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm
You might check out that link at techpowerup for a RAM calc tool. Honestly, I don't think this memory is strong enough to Overclock it. If it could be pushed harder without crashing, the shops wouldn't have sold it with such high speeds and prices.
I tried Ryzen Master, set up my power to 1500 watts for 3000 watt peak, and left the voltage alone. When I ran the test, it said everything worked fine. Should I keep using that profile? Is there a safer or better way than just clicking "Try It" in BIOS, or is this all pointless anyway?
It's been pretty smooth, no errors happened while using it. Maybe a stress test could prove how stable it is? How long do you think I need to run one to make sure it works safely? The Ryzen Master test ran for 1 minute and the CPU temp hit 63 degrees, but there wasn't much info on the RAM because of that. So are we talking about using BIOS instead of just speed and clock settings like in Ryzen Master?
If you do this in your computer settings called BIOS, it lasts longer. You can also run a special test to make sure the memory works right after that. To start the test, go to this link and get MedTest 86 from their website: https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm
It is now a bit over time for some issues to come up on the first try, so we'll just see what happens next.
