I'm trying to set up my own Minecraft server right now in Australia. I'll be using my PC as the main computer because it's easy to manage. I'm planning on letting overseas friends from Nepal play with me, so security is important. Someone told me that if I want them to stay safe and I need to give out their IP addresses, then I should use a virtual machine instead of just running Minecraft directly.

I have never made a server before, so knowing how to run one would be really helpful. If you could share some tips on setting this up, it would be amazing. Do I also need to protect my PC from others finding out my IP address? My computer is built with these parts: a Ryzen 9 5900x, DDR4 memory at 3600MHz, 16GB of RAM, an RTX 3080 graphics card, and 500GB of empty storage space. It's connected to the internet on my Msi B550A Pro motherboard with a fast 50Mbps download speed and 18Mbps upload speed.

Is this specific computer powerful enough to play Minecraft at the same time as hosting a server for others?
