Audacity is one of the most popular programs around. It's free and has a lot of useful tools. You can record any audio playing right now, cut up old sound clips, keep them in WAV or MP3 formats, and even wipe out some annoying background noise with it.

Are you sure they're in there somewhere? It's really hard to find them right now.

Generally speaking... When you open Edit and preferences, there might be some trouble at first, but it's great if you keep going. Audacity has its own place online to help me: Audacity Forum The Audacity Help Forum forum.audacityteam.org There are also lots of help files on the internet that have been around for a long time... I've had them since 15 or 20 years ago. My computer is a 4 or 5 year old one running Windows 10 and it works perfectly... version 2.1.3.
