i have repeatedly attempted to set up java on pi os adoptium.net. after exporting the tar file and adding the version to your path, i still face issues. when i check for the version, an error appears stating a format problem with the java executable.

It seems unclear. However, choosing "other platforms" on the site provides arm32 and aarch64 options, matching your OS's bit size.

Locate the Linux / AArch64 release on the official OpenJDK portal, https://jdk.java.net/17/
