Yes, that's totally doable on Windows 11 Home. You can create a special Admin account just like you have your Xbox login. This new admin will let the games run normally but stop random programs from downloading stuff. Then you can make separate guest accounts for friends and family so they can play their games without those downloads happening.

You can definitely set up an Admin account, then create a regular user who only gets permission to install apps. The trouble with this method was that sometimes programs needed updates that were really good for the system. You still had to type in the admin password just to see what would happen. This felt pretty annoying at times. I haven't found any easy way to pick which things are allowed to update without hitting that same wall.

Just a small detail though: an admin account gives you lots of control over the computer. You probably don't need that kind of power. You actually want a standard user account in Windows. The issue is this: the original user on the PC is already linked to your Xbox game account. Since that PC is now tied up, I'm pretty sure Windows won't let you change those privileges down to a standard level. Even though you can log into some Microsoft Store apps with your Microsoft account while using a local standard user profile, if your password matches the main account, what's the point? It just doesn't make sense unless you know that password already. You'll have to start fresh: create a new Microsoft account, cut off the connection between the PC and the old game account, and then set up everything with the new one. Now, this brand-new account will be your admin on the PC while others can still use it as a standard user. So yes, it's possible, you just have to do some extra steps to get what you want.

I understand okay. If I set it up like this, could the "guest" person use Xbox, Epic Games, and Steam to play games from home without me watching over them or giving a password? The only thing my account will have control over is the computer itself, and the kids won't know about that secret password.

If your kids forgot the password for their Microsoft account, try this fix so they can log into the Windows store with just that same account, even if it's not tied to a personal Windows profile.
