I've observed that my task bar appears lighter than after a fresh Windows setup. I'm trying to make it look darker but haven't succeeded so far. Any suggestions on how to achieve this?

Click the taskbar in the right corner, select Taskbar Settings, on the left adjust the colors to black and disable transparency effects.

It appears the display is black because the graphics drivers are missing, which prevents transparency features. You can disable them temporarily for that appearance.
