Back in the day when I got my computer from PCSpecialist, it was all set and ready to go. Now I'm trying to fix my Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 (Rev. 1.1) but every time I download the right BIOS version for my specific revision and put it on a clean USB stick, I get an error saying they don't match. I've tried many different USB drives and various BIOS versions for the same model, yet nothing works. Even Q-Flash Plus shows no signs of working when I press it. I'm wondering if PCSpecialist installed a special custom BIOS that needs a specific update, or if my motherboard is just broken. This has been my first time trying to update a BIOS, so any help would be awesome, and even knowing what's going on without fixing it would be great!

Is this custom builder (w/e) still around? Probably good to ask them if so. Are you 100% sure everything you bought from them was either new, or meant to be "custom," or that they took the guts out of a prebuilt and put it in a different shell? I've had situations where I'd get hands on a system with a regular-looking motherboard and screen printed model number, only to find exactly this issue. Further digging showed it came from a prebuilt. Then you gotta figure out who made it and see if they even have a BIOS update for it now.

That happens often enough. If the mistake you're seeing is typical, then it's likely to happen again for sure.
