Hey everyone, honestly I spent an hour just trying to figure out how to make a Gmail account without needing my phone number. Yep it has to be a Gmail one because that's what YouTube needs so please don't suggest anything else 😛 I looked at the search results from last year and this month but nothing useful came up. The only thing on screen is an option to add a phone number - NOTHING ELSE! All those guides say to do something else that simply doesn't exist right now! I even tried using a VPN to pretend I'm Indian or British etc but no change at all. I really would prefer just doing it on my Windows PC instead of Android, and without needing another email address as proof unless necessary I really hope someone has found an answer that actually works? Thanks for any help! P.S. I looked for a better place to ask but was surprised there isn't even a general or 'on the internet' type forum for this kind of stuff? ciao Dylan

Like most websites these days, security has been made stronger and asking for a phone number is now needed. Back then you could skip getting one when signing up for Gmail, but that used to be possible. Don't blame Google; blame the bad guys out there trying to break things in.

That simply isn't going to happen.

Like many websites recently, they have made their security stronger by asking for more things to protect your data. Now you also need to give a phone number when making a Gmail account. It used to be okay to skip that step, but not anymore. Don't blame Google; blame the bad guys out there who try to steal people's info.
