Should I feel regret over my purchase, or am I satisfied? It’s tough to see my i7-870 with a 2GB Radeon GPU go! Still, it made sense!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Users are advised to stylize their threads with info asked of in this thread; *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice First off, respect where respect is due - this is an adaptation of the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums. which helps lend us some context and in turn helps the community chime in with worthwhile suggestions. If you've bought the system, the saying goes, ask first then go buy. Not the other way around.

It's best to seek feedback before making a purchase. Your plan seems sensible.

It's true, but I chose to go shopping on Friday morning. I aimed to finish my purchases before the day ended to benefit from Amazon's deals and other offers inspired by "Prime Day."

It's clear this will perform significantly better than your previous i7-870 equipped with a 2GB Radeon GPU.

The weakest part would be this: just because it's a Super Flower doesn't automatically mean it's top quality. The PSU from the Combat series is quite low, even worse than Zillion, and you can't get better options right now. Your FG-series is only average, barely above average.

For a second opinion on your PSU, check the PSU Tier list here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...JW...1973454078. It’s listed as Tier B.

For a better PSU, consider models from Tier A such as Seasonic Focus/Vertex/PRIME, Corsair RMx/RMi/HXi/AXi, or Super Flower Leadex Gold/Platinum/Titanium. Tier A- is also acceptable, while Tier A+ is preferred.

My three PCs are powered by Seasonic. I own PRIME 650 Titanium (Tier A+), PRIME Ultra 650 Titanium (Tier A+), and Focus PX-550 (Tier A). Detailed specs and images are in my profile.

Other than the PSU, everything else is good or excellent.

I would not have bought a 14th gen chip. Not convinced their so called fixes have fixed anything, with regards to chip degradation. Also 0 upgrade path. I would have went AM5.
I would make sure you update to the latest bios, to get the latest microcode updates, for the degradation problem, and set the bios to Intel defaults.

I haven't connected anything to the PSU yet, so I might just move it and swap it out. I'm considering a be quiet 850 and will check the tier list. Thanks!
