We can't go into much detail here, but there are methods to bypass the login if you wish to continue using it as win98. Freedos is excellent and free, and because a win98 system usually comes with a SoundBlaster compatible card, you should be able to play old DOS games natively. Recallbox is a small LILUX distribution aimed at retro gaming; it works on older hardware and features a pleasant interface. Its best feature is using NTFS partitions, which makes swapping files straightforward.
