How can I possibly ask for permission from my folder when I’m completely lost?
I'm trying to store my VPN profile in a particular folder, but it keeps warning me about permission issues. The folder is on my desktop as a shortcut to the OpenVPN config. If I save it there first and then try to move it into that folder without access, it asks for permission and lets me proceed with a click. I'm frustrated because I want to save directly without trouble, and I've attached screenshots to clarify my steps.
It's likely your IT team needs to grant you write access to the folder. You can attempt this by pressing add, selecting principal, entering your full Windows username, clicking check names to verify formatting, then confirming full control. If successful, you should have the necessary permissions; otherwise, you won't be able to modify it. It's usually better to check the folder permissions for the destination rather than the specific file you're trying to copy.
Do you have a Windows outlook account? If yes, the corresponding email address is provided.
I don<|pad|> a Microsoft account isn't connected to my computer. During the installation, I chose not to enter my Wi-Fi information since it would require signing in to my Microsoft account. To avoid that, I didn't provide any Wi-Fi details when setting up Windows, because I prefer avoiding Skype and other Microsoft applications that appear frequently.
The "folder" on your desktop acts as a quick link to a directory in "Program Files." Its access settings block random changes by other installed programs. To add files, you usually must run the application with admin rights. (You can also simply paste the file in.)
If other options don't work - visit the provided link for instructions on adding reset permissions in the context menu. However, if @AbydosOne is right, I wouldn't suggest using that method for Program Files.
