How can I make my Windows 7 LAN better?
How can I make my Windows 7 LAN better?
The bots get smarter over time. At first, they act really dumb. If you leave them alone for just a couple of days, they become way quicker than people.
I don't remember seeing any special upgrades from the bots over time. Unreal bots run on a set path until they start fighting, so they have a fixed range and accuracy that depends on their skill level. Every single character has different buttons that change how they fight. On Godlike with camping at 100%, characters like Tamerlane and Loque became instant headshot turrets if you had a sniper rifle and walked into the line of fire. I mostly played on Inhuman, so the bots weren't perfect. (I might have been playing for too long). Fun fact: I didn't use a mouse for that game. I ran a Quake III Arena server for many weeks or months, and I don't remember seeing any improvement in the bots either. If they just let themselves fight, they would keep getting regular scores on capture the flag and kill ratios stayed pretty consistent. I used to make custom maps for Quake III. They had a cool terrain generating feature where you could load a bitmap and the map would follow the slopes. Never did I really get into making maps for Unreal Tournament. Unreal didn't have true 3D terrain back then; everything was basically flat planes. And I never picked it up again when 2k3 and 2k4 came out (I really didn't care about those versions). UT3 was good though.
I and other players are playing against AI bots. I don't want to play games where people fight online. A campaign mode would be cool. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! Those do sound great. 😀 Are there any others out there? Like RPGs, Fallout-style games, or Sid Meier's Civilization levels?
This game could have been perfect for you if it were a mod based on Warcraft III, where you mostly just played as the main characters instead of everyone else. The original Warcraft III, not the new version, was great because Diablo II allowed LAN play and is basically the best quick and easy action RPG to play without any fancy settings.
Thanks everyone for the ideas. I still need more suggestions. Something that lets me do LAN play with two computers connected by a cable without internet, where the graphics settings are higher than DOS but lower than buying a better card or upgrading my whole PC. I'm looking for something like the minimum graphics settings in Fallout New Vegas.
