How can I lower the voltage on my GTX 970 using Maxwell Bios Tweaker?
How can I lower the voltage on my GTX 970 using Maxwell Bios Tweaker?
I recently got an MSI GS70 2QE with the specifications that cause it to overheat and reduce FPS when throttling.
I have an i7 5700HQ, 16GB RAM, and a GTX 970M with 3GB VRAM.
I've adjusted the CPU and GPU thermal paste twice, but throttling still occurs.
MSI Afterburner's voltage setting is grayed out, so I downloaded a VBIO for the 970M hoping it would help unlock voltage control, but it didn't work.
Who can explain what needs to be changed in Maxwell Bios Tweaker to lower voltage or temperatures?
Also, is it possible to adjust a setting in Bios Tweaker so I can use MSI Afterburner to manage voltage?
The paste change is excellent, thank you. Did you also clean the fans and ensure the grills are clear? It might be a good idea to verify the fans are operating correctly. Additionally, the fan curves in BIOS could be adjusted to run more quietly, or you may prefer a more active setting.
What MSI MOBO do you have? I remember having trouble locating and adjusting CPU settings on a Z790 board while trying to undervolt it. Only when I set the MOBO to Default Performance did I manage to lower the voltages effectively. I also experimented with Afterburner, but realized Performance settings weren't necessary and didn't really suit my needs.
Edit - I didn't encounter any heat problems with the GPU, though. I made minor adjustments but never faced overheating there.
