So long ago my dad got a server setup for games like Minecraft, the killing floor, and new titles. I've been attempting to install fresh software onto it, but it can read files from a USB drive. It seems the right OS is missing, and I can't locate it. For Ubuntu Server 10.04 I tried, but it reported not detecting anything. Then I switched to Windows 8, which read it but claimed no ACPI file was present. I also checked a disk, but it didn’t appear or read properly. I’m not very experienced with these technical details. If you have any help, I’d appreciate it. Also, someone mentioned needing an Itanium Processor Family system bootable tape—though I’m confused about whether that refers to a floppy or a hard drive.

In the boot settings there isn’t a USB choice, so adjusting the order won’t help unless you include that feature. When trying to set it up via USB, it shows APC, Unicode and lacks a boot option—so I can revisit this tomorrow and explain the available devices (there are quite a few). EDIT: I’m not sure if I mentioned this, but I can’t log in because the source didn’t provide the login password (which is normal).

Insert the USB, it will display the boot options. Choose the USB you selected. You can reset the password anytime if needed.

If I could just restart it easily, I’d prefer to do that. It should appear when I switch between adding or removing boot options, but not on bootable drives. Let me quickly get a snapshot.

Not providing the password isn't reasonable at all. It's now yours; the only option is for the person to reset it to "password."

It's okay. You purchased a server. You'll need to set up a fresh operating system. You're not opting for the pre-installed one. Most people picture a brand-new server after buying it.

It mentions USB, but it’s the one I built before trying to use it. It might be due to how I set it up since I’m not sure which boot setting worked.

Which server is being used? What operating system is it running on? How was this setup created? Is the USB connected via UEFI or an older format? Please include your USB if needed, or consider enabling legacy boot.

I'm not sure about the exact details you mentioned. You referred to a UEFI installer, possibly for Rufus, and are using Ubuntu Server 10.04.1-server-amd64. It sounds like you're trying to set up a legacy boot with the BIOS. Let me know if you need help clarifying or adjusting your setup.
