I don't own this game, but have anyone seen what Ubisoft is doing by cutting off some of their games? If this rumor is true, they should be ashamed. I know taking away multiplayer but if they take away your ability to access the game at all, they should be required to issue a patch or give you a way to download a DRM-free version for people who actually paid real money for their games.

When it comes to digital games and downloads, there is no right to keep a copy. What you bought was a license with rules and conditions attached. And those terms probably say the publisher can do whatever they want at any time without asking. Plus, even if you could still get a copy from Steam or own one, I'm pretty sure it required UPlay. So they would just have stopped you there. I am sure you can find other ways to play that game which I won't mention here.

I get where you're coming from. Even if I didn't buy the game myself legally, my view is simple: who cares about their rules? If someone sells you something or gives you a key, they shouldn't be allowed to take it away later. That's not how that works, but I'm getting off on a tangent here.

This problem involves software licenses, but without one major player stepping forward to fight all the other companies for years, we will just have to accept it as our reality.
