I have unlimited 5G data on my phone, which I use as a hotspot for all my PC activities including downloading games. When I run the Google Speed Test, it shows speeds of 70mbps down and 50mbps up with only 5ms latency. It’s not the official 5G yet in my area, but sometimes I reach up to 120mbps down and 70mbps up. This works well, especially on my high-end portable gaming laptop (10k Time Spy). The main issue is that many online games display a warning about strict NAT when I connect via the mobile hotspot, which could affect multiplayer performance. Since I have unlimited data at these speeds, I’ve set the connection to unmetered because there’s no data cap. My reason for using the hotspot is that my home Wi-Fi router is too far (about two floors away) and weak (0-1 bars). In good range it can reach up to 215mbps down and 20mbps up. Your question is: how can I switch from strict NAT to open NAT for smoother online gaming without extra costs?

Alternatives exist, such as using a VPN to link to a VPS. Instead of relying solely on Wi-Fi extenders or mesh networks, consider these options. Also, keep in mind that 'unlimited' cellular plans often slow down significantly after reaching 30-60GB usage.
. But back to your solution won't VPN's slow down the connection what VPN's would work best with low pings? Have a look at the one in the screenshot will give it a try. Seem they have good prices for 12 months plus a 30 day trial will let you know if it goes well! Still hoping for more to respond with whatever solutions many other may also have. 04-02-2022, 12:12 PM #3Yes it will trottle but realistically no game will use more than 20gb in 30 days during online gameplay and if I have a very large download I just bring the laptop down next to the router. Wifi extenders is a last resort . But back to your solution won't VPN's slow down the connection what VPN's would work best with low pings? 04-03-2022, 10:51 AM #4Check with your telecom provider about obtaining a public IPv4 or IPv6 address. They usually won’t provide one, but it’s not too hard to ask. Your local carrier typically employs NAT for both IPv4 and IPv6 on mobile connections, though they do offer the possibility of disabling NAT specifically for IPv6. I’ve taken advantage of that setting and now have direct IPv6 access. It doesn’t work for IPv4, so if a game only uses IPv4, it won’t help either.

04-18-2022, 07:43 PM #6I can manage Ethernet connections and software such as MOCA or Power Line. It seems Wi-Fi extenders would be the optimal choice. Avoid using VPNs like ExpressVPN—they usually don't function well. You probably don't need a VPS with a public IP; just use your regular internet link and extend it.
Yes last resort because I will need 3 extenders to reach the PC 4 of I want to use the 5Ghz it's gonna be expensive. And in terms of cabling is a long way to go along the house will need to get done professionally as will require to do a lot of drilling. Will look into other VPN's for now. But what software you taking about do you have a link to this?
