Left For Dead 2 is a favorite for my friends and I. If you like the survival flavor, The Forest is awesome. You and your friends crash on a Cannibal infested island and have to survive. You get raided by cannibals, hunt down some boss like creatures, and stuff like that. Cool game all around.
I understand you're looking for a game with a spooky vibe, but I'm not sure about any title that's truly scary. Fear from games varies a lot, so it's hard to pinpoint exactly what you're after. If you're open to options, maybe something with zombie themes or intense gameplay could work better.
I prefer games without the scary atmosphere. Horror titles often involve being chased, sudden jump scares, or a constant sense of impending doom everywhere. It feels like you're never safe unless you stay hidden, unlike in L4D where you can just shoot enemies.
